A Langerhans cell is a specific kind of white blood cell that is found largely in the epidermis. It is an important element of the immune system which works to prevent infections and helps trigger immune reactions. As we age, both the maturation rate and number of Langerhans cells decrease. β-glucan is one of the organic molecules in polysaccharides. Its main function is to strengthen our immune system.
